WIWS / 7 of 7

Not only am I linking up with the fine folk over at Fine Linen and Purple today for the first time since May (!) but I am also completing Jen's 7 Posts in 7 Days challenge! I may not have been interesting or thought-provoking but by golly I did it!

The homily at mass today was both enjoyable and challenging and I am grateful to Leo for nursing quietly and docile-y enough for me to be able to catch it. I have a renewed desire to embrace joy and gratitude in my daily life and with God's grace (and enough personal perseverance) I may just get better! Apparently God heard me on this and decided to send a test my way because as I was typing a house centipede skittered over my keyboard. Oh, country life...... ;)

Anyways. Our little family got invited to lunch by Ben's predecessor and his wife and even though Leo was going stir crazy and in need of a nap, it was lovely! Yay for friendly people and beginning to find our (social) feet in Virginia!

Quick Question : Does anyone know where I can find tutorials for easy hairstyles or just the basics of styling hair (e.g. everyday updo)? I can't even handle a messy bun and I don't know my way around a bobby pin so any suggestions or help would be grrrreat!

  1. Woot for meeting other bloggers in the flesh! Good to see you if only briefly today. I like a good sock bun (this tutorial is helpful AND entertaining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIBMx3N-BJc). But your hair has to be pretty long and it takes a bit of work.

  2. I've got nothing... I mastered a wet-hair bun years ago and haven't branched out! Please share your findings :)

    1. I dunno, Rosie - your curls the other day were pretty gorgeous! You may be selling yourself short :)

  3. I've got long hair but am plain jane with styling. If you have long, straight hair and haven't met Spin Pins (made by Goody), you should check them out. They are 100 times better than straight bobbies and if I can't be a great hair stylist then, by golly, I'm going to be a QUICK and SECURE one. :) Maybe check Pinterest for styles?

    1. Good ideas! My hair has juuuuust enough wave/curl that I can't quite pull off the straight hair do's but maybe those Spin Pins can work anyway!

  4. Higher and lower messy buns are all I've got, but (maybe this all depends on what type of hair you have) I've heard good things about that sea salt spray, and I recently started using Surfer Hair (and, yes, I think teen boys use it too) which really helps add texture! My hair is lifeless and fine, so easy hairstyles are hard to come by.

    1. My hair has defied every gel, mousse, spray, and pomade I've tried... Still I'm always up for trying something new :)

  5. I love finding tutorials for simples up-dos and twisty-dos on Pinterest and You Tube! Using bobby pins that match your hair make the style look polished.

  8. Sorry - I have short hair for that very reason. I have no idea how to style it. You look lovely and I especially love the pop of color with your skirt. Great job!
